Welcome

Dear Friend,

Welcome to News You Can Use from healthinsuranceinfo.net, an on-line newsletter about protections consumers have – and lack – as they seek to buy and keep private health insurance. From this message, you can always see the latest in our series of stories of real people and their problems securing coverage, and solutions (real and proposed) that can help. This is a project of the Georgetown University Health Policy Institute and is supported by a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

Each issue can be found at our web site: healthinsuranceinfo.net. At this site, you will also find consumer guides for each state summarizing laws that protect people when they are trying to get and keep health insurance, even if they have a health condition. Thousands of visitors access these consumer guides each month. Many submit their stories for our consideration. These experiences provide a valuable perspective on how private coverage works for people in various circumstances, and can suggest lessons for consumers and policymakers, alike

Along with my colleagues, Stephanie Lewis, Mila Kofman, Eliza Bangit, and Kevin Lucia, I am pleased to present these materials for your consideration. We welcome your comments and questions: you can write to us at pollitzk@healthinsuranceinfo.net. Stay tuned for future issues of News You Can Use from healthinsuranceinfo.net.

Sincerely,

Karen Pollitz
Project Director
